Household Support Fund – message from Martha Earley
Posted on 19th November 2021 in Noticeboard

KIAA members can start making applications using this form:
I have also attached a process guide with the information required.
As discussed and agreed at the network, the KST Hub will accept applications made by CAK and KIAA member organisations supporting residents of Kingston. This means that where a staff member or volunteer of a KIAA member organisation identifies and assesses someone as being in financial hardship, they may make an application on behalf of or with the resident for financial or practical support which will be administered by the Kingston Stronger Together Hub.
In order for the applications to run smoothly and be successful, KIAA members will need to complete the assessment form and confirm and answer yes to the following;
Do I have the resident’s consent for their information to be shared?
Have I got the contact details of the resident including details of their household makeup?
Does the resident meet the eligibility criteria?
Have I checked proof of the resident’s eligibility?
Do I know what kind of support is needed?
Have I gathered further practical information if needed, such as delivery dates, payment information for fuel debt etc?
Do I know the exact cost of the required support?
Do I know how the resident needs the funds to be provided?
For enquiries, colleagues in the network can contact the KST Hub team via email: householdsupportfund@ kingston.gov.uk
As discussed last week, at the moment residents cannot apply directly. They will need the application to be assessed by a KIAA network member first before the KST Hub will be able to administer vouchers, food shopping, purchasing white goods or other support.
Therefore, we will be promoting the fund and for residents to approach Citizens Advice Kingston as the borough’s principal advice service and KIAA network member organisations who may then be able to assess and refer them for the fund, as well as providing support with other wider needs. This is crucial so that residents are linked to existing support services to address their financial insecurity rather than just receiving one-off support.
If any KIAA member organisations should wish to hold the funding directly and can do the assessments and the administration of vouchers, purchase white goods or pay bills etc on behalf of people, then please do get in touch so that we may consider directing funding to the appropriate organisations.
Thank you again for your support with this work, it is greatly appreciated.
If you have any queries about the arrangements please contact me directly, however, if they are about the fund or any client applications please contact the team on the email:
Best wishes,
Martha
