Update about Hate Crimes locally

Update about Hate Crimes locally

I learnt from Kingston College and from a local Trustee Board member that there has been an increase in verbal racial abuse in the town. This seems to have increased since the result of the EU referendum was announced.

We need to work together to stamp this out quickly and to make sure that there is a strong local message that such abuse will not be tolerated in our community.

I am discussing  setting up Hate Crime reporting systems with John Azah, the Chief Officer at Kingston Race and Equality Council and, in partnership with the local authority and the local police we hope to make sure that our community stays a welcoming, diverse and caring one.

If you have experienced Hate Crime and need help – then you can report it to the police.
