Here is the Guardian item that outlines what the new measures seem to be – they were announced yesterday by the Prime Minister.
We anticipate that there may be some confusion, especially about what the changes mean for employers and employees. We are here to help if you have any queries and our national information system will be updated so you can be confident that information is accurate and complete. If you need our help you may find the information on our website, or you can phone us on 02031660953 or email us for help
You might also wonder if the changes mean that Citizens Advice Kingston will be open for drop in callers to our information centre again, or for clients to be seen by their caseworker at our Eden Street office. We have thought carefully about this and are making plans to provide both information centres and appointments as soon as possible. However, it is clear that our current offices are not suitable as we could not keep you and our team safe. This is for several reasons but not least as our reception and interview rooms do not have ventilation so the risk of infection spreading is very high. So we are looking to see how we can share premises with others and work in partnership to provide information centres in the community.
We have also found that for most people our ‘digital’ help is very useful. Many people have contacted us by phone or email or used our self help materials online. In our recent survey, people told us that these systems work well for them and they are happy with the service we provide. Everyone who responded said our service was ‘excellent or very good’ and we look forward to continuing to serve our local community and provide a high quality service to as many people as possible, focusing on those most in need.
